I previously owned a Brother HL-5170DN laser printer released in 2003. That beast was 21 years old. It still works, but I was finding the lack of remote printing to be a limitation. The new Brother MFC-L2900DW combines printing, scanning, and copying with the ability to print from my iPhone and iPad.
Paper Handling
Had to set a function for double sided as every print job always reverts to single sided. 2->1 and 1->2 takes some fiddling as not permanent setting or intuitive.
Cost of Consumables
Much longer lasting and much lower supply costs. When considering a printer, especially for home use, if you do not need color printing, a monochrome laser printer is totally the way to go.
Additional Features
Setup was totally easy and so far this printer is working as expected with absolutely no problems.
